Just too much time on my hands, i guess....

TIME.

This is something I wrote some years back, sitting around with time on my hands and nothing to think about. Then I thought about TIME.

What is TIME? Ever notice how time flies by us sometimes. Yet, seems to crawl by at other times. Or sometimes even stood still. Especially with friends having a good time, time just zooms past us. And when you are sad and alone, time seems to be on slow motion mode. Is there an explanation to how time works?

What if TIME is a biological living thing? An entity we cannot see, touch or smell but yet present wherever we are....like God. What if time is alive, it has a heartbeat...a lifeline. With each pulse of its heartbeat, time is closer to death....yet it never really dies away. It is there all the while and shared by everyone at the same time.

As we enjoy the fun and adrenaline, the heartbeat quickens, getting closer to the end only quicker, would that explain why good times seems to last so short. It is worst when we are in a group/ with friends. We are having more fun but there is only one time, which is shared by all of us. In a sense, there is less time to share amongst ourselves. So by splitting it, we get less time each and that's probably why good times end quick. On the other hand, it is also why, when we are sad and sulking alone, time is there all for you to keep and no one is sharing it with you, could that explain the slow and long moments.

So think about it the next time you are alone, don't take time for granted. For when you are alone, it is there for you and for you only. Savor the moment and hopefully it is a happy moment, that way it lasts longer. Could this be part of why and how some people gain 'enlightenment' or self actualize or experienced paradise? Or during moments of sadness, the advise is be around friends, to share time with you. So the sadness can pass quicker.

Sleep for example, disregard the doctor who say "sleep 8 hours a day". I can sleep 3 hours and still feel fresh or sleep 12hours and still feel like shit. Because doctors or society sort of endorse the 8-hour-sleep concept, its become like a rule that you must sleep for 8 hours regardless of whether it is enough or not. (.....I would like to congratulate those who do not practice this....and hope you will not make your kids do it) Have you ever slept for 2 hours and feel it was a lifetime of a sleep, or sleep 8 hours wake up this morning and felt you could use 15 more minutes, then another 15, then maybe an hour more?

You hear of people who wake up automatically every morning at certain times, a sort of a "biological clock" in us. So what does this clock work on? What are its mechanisms? Or is it time existing as a universal heartbeat.

Imagine a world without time, there will not be characters like day/night or weeks/months or years/calenders. A lot of people put timelines on themselves or objectives against time. This sort of gives them a reference point for start-finish. But does it matter, would things be better without time.

For example, without time 9-to-5 jobs won't exist. As long as there is a job, you do it, you do it till it is over. As a person, you will then only be propelled by passion to do it, and not by the hour and minute hands on a clock. If you are tired, you sleep, if you are hungry, you eat. The thing is, you do it till it is over. Think about it, isn't that how pitches for new businesses go by or the 'nights' you spent before that major presentation. Time didn't exist for you in those moments.

Without time, there will not be history…..everything is NOW. That probably explains why client wants everything NOW. It is almost as if they did not believe in the concept of time. Like I said, society played it out on ourselves by setting ‘timelines” which we all have to adhere to. 5yrs-kindergarten, 12yrs-Standard 6, 17yrs-SPM, 24yrs-Graduate, etc. Why can’t people take time when it comes? Don’t you think it is better that way? I personally believe each and everything in life has its own time. You may have heard of stories where the student never made it in schools but suddenly excels. How did it happened? At some point, the time came, the person decides “Yes!, I want to do this NOW, I want to study” and this person excels in his studies. Going back to the point, you do things because you really want to do it and is passionate about it and not because of some obligatory crap you have to follow. Could this explain for child geniuses, if the time has come for a 5 year old kid to understand quantum physics, why let him stay in kindergarten. All I am saying is, go with the time-flow and not the timeline.

Don’t get me wrong, time is a good thing, sort of like God, its existence is purely from a functional perspective (that’s my personal view), to put order and efficiency in the world. Time is alive. Cherish time when you got it. The day you lose time is probably the day you die.

Think about it this weekend, most always complain "there is nothing to do". Don't you just hate it when the weekend is over and you think to yourself "what the hell did I just do for myself" or "how unproductive it had been" and sort of hate yourself for it. Make full use of time.

As a disclaimer...I was not high on drugs or pills or any substance. Just alot of bullshit in my head.

Happy New Year 2007 ???

its 4 days passed the new year already.....still happy? or reality hit?

for me....it hit me hard on the first day itself....first the hangover, then second the f*cking idiot driving the black hyundai who for no reason decides to jam brake on a green light and therefore causing a bloody dent on beetle bonnet....hhhmmmm.....happpy fucking new year everyone.

well then i tot, "hey there's got to be a quota for the number of bad luck days in a year right? so it ain't so bad if you look at it as ....there's now one day less of bad luck for the rest of the year.

and as i looked through my sms inbox, there are a couple of new year greetings that helped put a smile on my face, a laugh sometimes and positive look at life in general...so i tot i wanted to share with those who bothered to read this far down my post...
